The ancient history of Aragon allows us to discover a great amount of monuments which witnessed the life in our region along the centuries. Monuments marked by different epochs and historical events which let us to contemplate and enjoy a wide range of architectural and artistic styles. A lot of these monuments were leading in our history and they are internationally well-known, due to their unique characteristics and special features. The Mudejar Art, the Castle of Loarre, the Monastery of San Juan de la Peña, the Cathedral of Jaca, the Hermitages of Serrablo, the fortresses of the Pyrenees ... just a few examples of the monumental heritage of Aragon.
The aragonese villages also play a very important role in the tourism in our region. Most of these villages have kept an atmosphere which takes us back to the medieval times every time we visit them. These charming villages will let you discover their traditional gastronomy, their history and their way of living. The Spanish association "Los pueblos más bonitos de España" (The most beautiful villages in Spain) recognises 12 aragonese villages. Alquezar, Ainsa, Sos del Rey Catolico, Anso... walking through these villlages will be like walking through history.
